vintage sewing findings

Hello peeps!  Today is the official first day of spring!!

I had a fun weekend getting ready for the new season and I thought that today I  would provide this vintage sewing kit image in three different formats! I was actually sewing this weekend ( the canvas heart pin cushion was one of those projects)  and  I thought this pic and images would kick off the season in a fun way!

It doesn’t help that I have been watching so many junk journaling vids on Youtube and that inspired me to try my hand at this project.   I wanted to help you out a little with a vintage ephemera junk journal image (that is very hard to find by the way)   to  jump start  your spring crafting, art journaling,  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s freebie download.

This image is an update to the  vintage ephemera  that I have been providing in the last few posts.

Today’s freebie was created from a scan and then brought into photoshop in order to provide the black and white photo and the png file.

I didn’t add distressing shades or brushes on the individual images, because what I have seen is that different diy crafters have different preferences to the amount of distressing they prefer on their journal items, I will suggest that you take a look at Tim Holtz, distressing inks, if you are interested in what “distressing” with ink is all about.

Facts about the Vintage Sewing Kit Image Freebie

As for the details about the freebie, there is one image provide in three different file formats 1) original jpeg 2) black and white and 3) png file with transparent background that will be available on the downloaded file. As always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects or other types of memory keeping.

I didn’t bundle these files, so you will have to download them individually.  The watermark will NOT appear on your junk  journal page or vintage image.

These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp. ( In this case the original image was taken at 150 dpi but the quality was improved in Adobe Photoshop.)

The materials I used were all vintage ephemera scanned at a very high resolution.    Enjoy!

I don’t always get a chance to share little tips on what I am working on.  The following is a photo of my tea dyed reinforcement labels, that I then stamped on with clear stamps (placed on acrylic blocks) and used black ink!  Here’s my set of reinforcement labels in an organized set and with a handwritten key showing the different types of stamped coffee dyed reinforcement labels that  I have created…

Thanks for Your Social Media Repins

I’d like to say thanks to all those taking the time to comment, I sure appreciate the gracious “thank you’s” and the legitimate “link love”.  Thank you for your pins on Pinterest as well as a few Facebook links.  I also appreciate mentions in your blogs with appropriate link backs and active links.

My traffic keeps increasing from visitors from all over the world, thank goodness for Google translate!  I hope you don’t mind when I check out your Pinterest boards, and repin some of your pins to my boards, these pins usually provide inspiration for new designs of my own!

As usual these freebies are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)  If you have been here before, you know the drill.  If not, you might want to read the quick  TOU below before you access the printable.

How to Use these Junk Journal Vintage Image :

There are several ways you can use this printable to create your stickers and I have included a few in the following instructions:

1) The easiest way to use this printout  is to print it out on a full sheet of white sticker paper and if you own a Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait or other digital cutter, such as the Cricut Explore or Maker  you can cut out the  journal kit using their designer software.

2) Also another method,  would be to use heavy bond printer paper or you can use 65 lb. white cardstock or heavy white printer paper  depending on how thick you want your sticker  and then place adhesive via a snail tape runner or with a Xyron sticker tool or machine.

3) Another way, (albeit a little time consuming way) is to print out the planner stickers on sticker paper and “fussy cut” out by hand, I have spaced the elements so that you can use a pair of good craft scissors to get a clean cut and handle the fussy cutting.  Another handy tool to have for the straight cuts is a slide or rotary paper trimmer which will reduce cutting around the straight sides of stickers.

The materials I used were all vintage ephemera scanned at a very high resolution.    Enjoy!

Happy Friday!   Today, I’m providing  my latest vintage ephemera junk journaling printable.  I have noticed a lot of traffic on these blog posts and I’d like to acknowledge and appreciate the support and referral traffic.  Today, I am providing you a set of ATC cards using Johan Teyler’s ( a multi talented 17th century Dutch artist ) floral images.  The color theme is filled with rich oranges, muted reds and they include a lovely navy blue.  However, with this freebie I also provided the images in sepia tones, and a rich high contrast black and white!

In any case, I hope this freebie  inspires you in your paper crafting, art journaling, junk journaling  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s vintage freebie.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Design Inspiration

I so enjoy designing these projects.  I  am always excited to develop new ideas for  tags  and now papers with a vintage ephemera design for either scrapbooking, art journaling, junk journaling and other paper crafting uses.  I am trying to provide a few of these vintage printables more frequently.

I mentioned previously about how many crafting/junk journaling  Youtube videos I am watching for inspiration and ideas.  I thought these lovely prints from rawpixel.com would inspire you to use them for your junk journals, regular planners or other paper crafts.  The original public domain images are US letter size and can be accessed for free by signing up on rawpixel.com’s website.

These jpegs are created at the highest quality, so some of the files may be large at approximately 8MB.  If you are not into junk or art journaling, you can also resize some of these images and pop these into the pockets of A5 planners or Traveler’s Notebooks if you enjoy a vintage aesthetic, as I do.

I also would like to mention that Creative Fabrica  (a great graphic resource site and my go to site) is having an awesome  sale throughout this month as we get ready for end of the year crafting, be sure to check out their daily freebies and giveaways.  Also,as mentioned before I obtained these images from another great graphic website, Rawpixel  which is loaded with a slew of public domain images and  artwork for your personal paper crafting use.  These two graphic sites are my top favorite for a variety of images and fonts.

Facts about the Vintage Ephemera ATC Cards Freebie

As for the details about the freebie, there are 3  pdf printables provided today.    You can use these elements for journaling in your traveler’s notebook projects, smashbooks, junk journals or other types of memory keeping.  This printable is for diy paper crafts but, of course, can be used in your journals.

This freebie has three printables at 8.5″ by 11″  in pdf format.     These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp.  They can be used in either the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut digital cutters to cut them out or you can use scissors and a slide cutter.

**Please note, although I used  public domain resources to create this design, the design is under my copyright.**

Materials Needed

*White cardstock or white sticker paper, depending on your final use.

*Vintage inks, such as Tim Holtz  Distress Inkpads, to give the edges a worn, tinted or aged look.  These inks take off the white edge of the journaling cards and journaling spots if you are using them for junk journaling .  With these inks you control the amount of tinting and color you prefer on your edges.

*Scissors or slide cutter

*Photo editing software (i.e., Photoshop Elements) for jpeg files or Silhouette or other digital cutters.

How to Use this  Vintage Ephemera Junk Journaling Printable

  • Print and cut out the papers and use them to embellish your  pages or pockets  for your junk journals, traveler’s notebooks and other planners.  Watermark (if any) is removed on actual downloads.
