Cherries Journaling Elements – Free Printable

Here’s the first freebie for June!  This cherries journaling elements and cards freebie blends some shabby chic elements, and the colors teal blue, Tiffany blue and red as the vintage-y colors that I used for this layout.  I love this color combination for Christmas and other occasions as well.

As usual these are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)   In the future, you will notice that my freebie design images will follow these themes:  vintage, retro/minimalist  and/or whimsical.

If you haven’t downloaded my resources before, please read the following as they are some things you should know before downloading:

* Vintage Glam Studio printables (formerly under the name Vintage Glam Collectibles) are for PERSONAL USE ONLY. (I own the domains for both names and will be dedicating this blog to more design related articles and printables.)
*You may not re-sell, redistribute, or claim the original or derivative designs as your own.
*Please do not remove the watermark or modify the design in any way other than for your own Personal use.
*If you post this on the internet, please give credit to Vintage Glam Studio & link back to my blog, so others can obtain the resources.  Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook are great social media sharing platforms, it’s the  sharing without a link back that can be a problem.

*Image resources used for these designs that are free or have other restrictions will be noted below the preview image.  Sometimes I will just post resources as a courtesy to the graphic designers and Vintage Glam blog followers who want to know where to get matching paper or some of the design resources I have used.

You can access the pdf file>>>> Cherries Journaling Elements .  Or if you like click on the picture below for the download.

Cherries Jubilee Journaling Cards

The pdf sheet is 8 1/2″ by 11″., and there  are 12 elements in all. The file size is a little hefty at 5.78 MB, so be sure you wait for the complete download.  In the future, I will be looking for a zip file resource for downloading large files.   Hope you like them! 🙂

Usually my designs  include my own illustrations or designs, royalty-free images, public domain images & images that were legally obtained & used in accordance to their Terms of Use.  While I didn’t design the digital paper used for this layout, I did design most of the other elements including the cherries and ice cream dish!

Quick Facts: What is Digital Scrapbooking?

I thought I would include a quick fact glossary of terms that are used for digital scrapbooking.  I often refer to them without clearly defining what the terms mean, especially when it comes to the pdf freebies that I have been posting.  So, here goes a roundup of a few vital terms to know when it comes to digital or hybrid scrapbooking…

Digital Scrapbooking

Digital Scrapbooking is  a craft that uses your computer to generate scrapbook layouts without the use of traditional paper, glue, stickers and embellishments in their physical form or “tangible” form. The fabulous plus about this type of hobby is that you don’t need to visit a local store to purchase papers, alphabets, frames or even stamps to create a digital scrapbook layout.  You can purchase all your elements online.

These elements are now available via online crafting stores and can be purchased and downloaded to your computer 24/7.  Many of these elements available for free by various scrapbooking publishers, graphic designers and hobbyists.

What many digital scrapbooking hobbyists do is use digital elements inside a photo editing “layering” program such as Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS (a professional photo editing program) to build content-rich and layered scrapbooking pages in a digital format.  You can lay out digital elements according to the color theme, photos, elements and alphas that are pleasing to the individual scrapbooker and/or hobbyist.

Hybrid Scrapbooking

Hybrid Scrapbooking is  mixing digital elements with physical elements to create something handmade or tangible. This includes purchasing, downloading and printing digital files or other elements with a home based ink jet printer and mixing them with regular scrapbook materials to create a card, layout or any other handmade item.

This type of scrapbooking technique is used in Project Life layouts because it uses physical, tangible elements with computer produced or designed elements.   If you are using any form of technology to add details to your craft projects that is  considered hybrid scrapbooking or hybrid crafting.

Printables

Printables are pre-designed sheets  (or digital collage sheets) that include graphic elements to print out on your own printer and  can be used on your own personal craft projects. They are often made available for free or for a small fee and can be downloaded directly from your computer.

Many printables are provided as pdf files or jpeg files that can be downloaded and printed.  These elements can then be hand cut (some crafters are using their die cutting machines to do the cutting) with traditional scissors and added to cards, scrapbooking and Project Life  layouts and more.

Cutting Files

Cutting Files are pre-designed shapes or elements that can be imported into some of the most popular die cutting machines on the market; like the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut.

Those advanced digital hobbyist who have developed their skills can also use cutting file shapes as clipping masks inside of Photoshop and other layering programs.  These tools often produced professional die cut label, stickers, shapes for the hobbyist’s use.

So, that’s the round up of a few paper crafting terms you need to know, just in the event, you were curious as to what all the buzz was regarding digital scrapbooking.

Summer Whimsical Journaling Cards – Free Printable

Yuup! …another freebie.   I really appreciate the response I have gotten from other “pinners” on my other freebies, you are awesome!  And thank you, for those who have taken the time to drop a compliment or two.

Wow!  I was just flabbergasted with your response and although I am still aiming for my  vintage designs,  (actually have one on the burner, so to speak right now) it seems the all time most popular freebie was the whimsical one.  Who would have thought?

This time I used a black and white color scheme, with yellow and white.  Just the color for the sunnier days we are finally getting here, in what is supposed to be sunny Southern California.

I have  loaded this printable with 1 filler card, 3 journaling cards and other elements–a total of 10 elements on an 8 1/2 by 11″ pdf page.  As before, the lines on the illustration are not perfect ,  I was aiming for whimsical and not the typical ocd linear inclination I tend to have. ( I was thrilled to be able to actually design the yellow bee with a curly trail myself, as you know  I am constantly trying to improve my design skills.)

How to Use this “Journaling Cards” Printable:

There are a few ways you can use this printable to create your journaling cards and elements and I have included a few in the following instructions:

  1. The easiest way to use this printable is to print it out on a full sheet of white cardstock and if you own a Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait or other digital cutter you can cut out the journaling cards and journaling elements using their designer software. ( **Please note: You must have the Silhouette Designer Edition software upgrade to open pdfs in your Silhouette. There are several pdf to jpg converters online if your software just can’t open a pdf. You will have to spend some time creating the cutlines for the silhouette but this should make creating the cutfile and cutting it out a lot easier.)
  2. The most labor intensive (or time consuming) way is to print out the journaling cards or journaling elements on 65 lb. white cardstock and “fussy cut” out by hand, I have spaced the elements so that you can use a pair of good craft scissors or a slide paper trimmer  to get a clean cut and handle the fussy cutting.

I actually made the thumbnail bigger so you can view the design, and see if you would like to add it to your digital or hybrid scrapbooking stash.  The designs are created at high resolution and they should print at 300 dpi with a smooth color.
