vintage chicken tags on desktop

Hello, I hope you are all doing fine mid-week and are looking forward to getting ready for Thanksgiving, at least here in the US.  As you can see, I am providing a rather unique design for today’s freebie ( a set of farmhouse chicken tags).  They are made with original  vintage farm ephemera and and my favorite aged vintage cream and black color scheme.

I really had a lot of fun  designing these tags even though finding and collecting the  vintage images was  a challenge.  The background images on the tags are from an original Chicken or Poultry Magazine.  I have also included a tag with a chicken wire background and the titles of “hen” or “chicken” for a different look.  In any case, I hope you like them. Check out the video below for a light hearted review of this diy.

Design Inspiration

The background was a great find on the interwebs,  where I found a vintage farm poultry magazine page from the turn of the century, including vintage poultry magazine ads.

As for the details about the freebie, there are 6 elements in all.  The tags measure approximately 3″ x 4″.   I used a variety of images and vintage textures for these tags.

Although these tags were made specifically as journal bits, as always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects, smashbooks, art journals or other types of memory keeping.

They can also be used in your kitchen/ household labeling. Here’s a great link on Etsy for this type of chicken/farmhouse imagery, Vintage Magazine Advertisement Chickens for your journaling or diy crafting.

Here’s a sample of what these tags look like once they are cut out and embellished.  I used different eyelets for the tags and also used cotton string, twine, and black and white check ribbon to give you an idea how they might look tied with different string.  You can choose to distress the tags with Tim Holtz’ distress ink (i.e. vintage photo) or tea dye if you prefer.

Time Sensitive Offer

It’s that time of the year again, as we approach Thanksgiving, and approach Black Friday, there will be a lot of opportunities for massive savings and great offers on your favorite tools and graphics.  The following is one by Creative Fabrica, click on the picture to get the details about this offer!

Facts about the farmhouse freebie:

  • This free printable has 6 elements on a letter size page.
  • The file size is 3.9 MB.
  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp. (The preview pictures on the blog and at Google are at 72 dpi, the actual download’s color is actually much smoother and softer.)
  • Printing tip:   I would advise that you print on heavy white cardstock, plain or matte to use as die cuts or tags that are sturdy.  The hole on the hang tags is approximately 1/4″.
  • Color theme: white, cream, black

Thank you for all your Pinterest and other social media pins…

I’d like to say thanks to all those taking the time to comment, I sure appreciate the gracious “thank yous” and the legitimate “link love” , you guys made October my biggest web traffic month yet, hopefully, it can be repeated in November.   I know you don’t always have time to leave a comment because you are busy, so I really appreciate it when blog visitors take the time to either like or comment.

Thank you for your single pins and for some of you,  multiple pins of my various designs on Pinterest as well as Facebook links.  I also appreciate mentions in your blogs with appropriate link backs and active links.

vintage farmhouse labels

Hello, I hope you are all doing fine mid-week and are looking forward to a great weekend.  As you can see, today’s freebie ( a set of farm tags and vintage labels)  is made with  vintage farm ephemera and a chicken theme and my favorite, red, cream and black color scheme.

I really had a lot of fun  designing these tags even though finding and collecting the vintage images was a a challenge.

Design Inspiration

The background was a great find on the interwebs,  where I found a vintage farm almanac page from the turn of the century, including vintage poultry ads.  I love the color red for these type of labels, I guess it might be influenced by the red embroidery work I used to watch my Mom make for kitchen towels.  According to Wikipedia, here’s a fun fact!  “Redwork is a form of American embroidery, also called art needlework, that developed in the 19th century and was particularly popular between 1855 and 1925.  It traditionally used red thread, chosen because red dyes were the first commercially available colorfast dyes, in the form of  Turkey red embroidery floss.”

As for the details about the freebie, there are 28 elements in all.  The tags measure approximately 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″   and the  red gingham labels are approximately 2.5″ x 1″.  I used an actual  vintage paper label  for the red gingham  labels.

Although these tags were made specifically as journal bits, as always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects, smashbooks, art journals or other types of memory keeping.

They can also be used in your kitchen/ household labeling.

Facts about the farmhouse freebie:

  • This free printable has 28 elements on two  5 1/2″ by 8.5″ jpeg files. (Half US letter)
  • The file size is 3.4 MB. Second pdf file is 2.2MB.
  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp. (The preview pictures on the blog and at Google are at 72 dpi, the actual download’s color is actually much smoother and softer.)
  • Printing tip:   I would advise that you print on heavy white cardstock, plain or matte to use as die cuts or white sticker paper to use the labels as stickers.
  • Color theme: red, cream, black

Hello peeps and Happy Monday.  Well, today I am getting ready for summer with this farm themed planner stickers printable for the Erin Condren.

There are a lot of “farm” graphics in this planner stickers set.  If you have children, then this should appeal to them.

I have also included a Cricut ready “words with offsets”  planner stickers set for today.  These are new stickers designs that I have provided.  I hope you like them.

Planner Sticker Specs

These planner stickers are specifically designed for fans of the Erin Condren Planner   (vertical) or similar Week At A Glance Planners  or other horizontal weekly planners such as the Filofax.

The functional planner stickers, especially the box stickers,  are sized to fit  within the vertical columns and boxes specifically for the Erin Condren .

However, you can reduce the printable when you go to print in order to adjust the stickers’ size to fit your specific planner. (Some distortion may occur using this method.)

Also, if you are new to this site, I wanted to let you know  that I have a board on Pinterest  that  you might want to follow that has several pins (ideas) by other planner designers, stationery, home office decor,  office supplies and planner freebies that are mostly planner related, you can view that and/or follow here,  Home Office | Planners & Stationery Favs.

There are  more than 105+ planner stickers or  elements total in today’s release.     As always, these stickers and elements  can either be used for journaling in your project life projects, smashbooks, art journals or other types of memory keeping and papercrafting but these were made specifically for you Erin Condren Planner and Filofax fans.

Note**Please see my Terms of Use below before downloading if you have not to been to this site before.**

How to Use this “Planner Stickers” Printable:

There are several ways you can use this printable to create your stickers and I have included a few in the following instructions (I have also included some of the cutting tools you will need):

1) The easiest way to use this printout  is to print it out on a full sheet of white sticker paper and if you own a Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait or other digital cutter you can cut out the to-do lists or planner stickers using their designer software. ( **Please note:  You must have the Silhouette Designer Edition software upgrade to open pdfs in your Silhouette. I also have redesigned the template so that the margins are within the “registration” area of your silhouette.

You will have to spend some time creating the cutlines for the silhouette  but this should make creating the cutfile a lot easier.)

2) Also another method,  would be to use heavy bond printer paper or you can use 65 lb. white cardstock depending on how thick you want your sticker  and then place adhesive via a snail tape runner or with a Xyron sticker tool or machine.

3) The most tedious  (or time consuming) way is to print out the planner stickers on sticker paper and “fussy cut” out by hand, I have spaced the elements so that you can use a pair of good craft scissors to get a clean cut and handle the fussy cutting.

Another handy tool to have for the straight cuts is a slide or rotary paper trimmer which will reduce cutting around the stickers.  For the curvy cuts (i.e. around words), you might like the Gyro-cut tool.

Facts about the Planner Stickers freebie:

  • One  set of   planner stickers on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ pdf file. (2 ppgs)
  • 5″ x 8″ Cricut ready planner stickers
  • These elements are designed at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp with a smooth lay down of the ink color.  The preview pictures both on the blog and on Google are at 72 dpi.
  • Color theme: brick red, golden yellow, yellow, light green, dark green
  • As usual these freebies are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)  If you have been here before, you know the drill.  If not, you might want to read the quick  TOU below before you access the printable.
