Hello peeps!  It’s Friday and the end of the work week!  Today,  I’m providing the add ons for the “By the Seaside” set of vintage ephemera journaling papers printables  that I had hinted about in a recent post.

Your enthusiasm motivated me to come up with some new ideas and hopefully these journaling  add ons are great assets to add to your paper stash!  So, I designed… (1) large tags (2) journaling cards and (3) a set of tickets and labels (4) ocean photo (5) ocean photo.    (Any watermarks are removed in the downloads.). Let me know what you think about these designs in the comments section below, if you have time.

I designed these images in Photoshop CC which is an awesome photo editing program and can handle these large image files quite easily.  (That’s part of the reason I subscribed to the CC version as soon as I was able.), Photoshop Elements is great as well for handling these files.

Your printing results will vary depending on the type of printer you have, as a general rule the higher the dpi that your printer can  print, the clearer your images will be.  You can always take them to the nearest Office Depot or Staples (here in the US) to get higher quality printing if you are using these for a special journaling project.

I hope this freebie  inspires you in your crafting, art journaling, junk journaling  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s vintage freebie.

By The Seaside Journaling Add Ons Design Inspiration

I am totally enjoying designing these projects.  I  am always excited to develop new ideas for  tags  and now papers with a vintage ephemera look for either scrapbooking, art journaling, junk journaling and other paper crafting use.  I am trying to provide a few of these vintage printables more frequently.

If you are not into junk or art journaling, you can also pop these into the pockets of A5 planners or Traveler’s Notebooks if you enjoy a vintage aesthetic, as I do.

Today’s freebie has a lot of source vintage ephemera images from  vintage Photoshop brushes (many that I am designing), ledger entries script, ledger papers,  vintage botanical images I have scanned and other sources of vintage ephemera digital items, some sourced from books published in the 1800s!  Each design requires different Photoshop skill sets, so I enjoy the process and challenge of designing these images.

I thought I would mention that Creative Fabrica  (a great graphic resource site and my go to site for many graphics) is gearing up for another great promotion, they just keep getting better and expanding the kinds of graphics that they are offering, so check them out if you choose.  Today, Friday August 12th only, their giveaway is a Brother Sewing machine, so get in on the fun, if you like!

Facts about the Vintage Ephemera  Journaling Add Ons Freebie

As for the details about the freebie, there are 5 journaling options in this printable.    You can use these elements for journaling in your traveler’s notebook projects, smashbooks, junk journals or other types of memory keeping.  This printable is for diy crafts but, of course, can be used in your journals.

This free printable has 5 journaling printables at 8.5″ by 11″ with assorted add-ons to coordinate or match with the original shabby chic rose  papers I released.   These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp.  They can be used in either the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut digital cutters to cut them out or you can use scissors and a slide cutter.  You don’t absolutely need a digital cutter to print, cut and assemble your projects but they’re great tools!

The materials I used were vintage  ephemera scanned at a very high resolution and other high quality vintage digital resources.

**Please note, although I used  public domain resources to create this design, the design is under my copyright.**

Materials Needed

*White cardstock or white sticker paper, depending on your final use.  You might consider white matte photo paper as I have included photo images in the journaling cards printable. Other journaling crafters have mentioned Southworth linen/cotton paper for printing journaling papers to get that almost cloth like texture for your paper.

*Vintage inks, such as Tim Holtz  Distress Inkpads, to give the edges a worn, tinted or aged look, if that is your preference.  This process takes off the white edge (distresses) of the journaling cards and journaling spots, if you are using them for junk journaling and gives the paper a subtle, aged and worn  look.  With these inks you control the amount of tinting and color you prefer on your edges.

*Scissors or slide cutter

*Photo editing software (i.e., Photoshop Elements) for jpeg files or Silhouette or other digital cutters.

How to Use this By The Seaside Journaling  Papers Printables

  • Print and cut out the papers and use them as add on items  for your junk journals, traveler’s notebooks and other planners.  Watermark is removed on actual downloads.

seaside theme journaling papers on desktop

Happy midweek!   Today, I’m providing  my latest vintage ephemera journaling papers printables. Today I really mixed up the design and since it is late summer, I didn’t want to miss a sea themed set of printables for you.  I had some of these images in my vintage digital clip art stash for years…and a week or so ago, the inspiration for these designs clicked!  I went with subtle images  and muted colors for these printables and thought they might work with other digital papers or scrapbook pages you might have.

I designed these images in Photoshop CC which is an awesome photo editing program and can handle these large image files quite easily and all the layering.    I also designed the sea objects repeat pattern as well.

Note:   The jpegs for these files will be rather hefty averaging at the largest 5 MB .  Your printing results will vary depending on the type of printer you have and the type of printer paper that you use.  You can always take them to the nearest Office Depot or Staples (here in the US) to get higher quality printing if you are using these for a special journaling project.

By The Seaside Design Inspiration

I hope this freebie  inspires you in your crafting, art journaling, junk journaling  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s vintage freebie.  I have been watching a lot of junk journaling videos on Youtube to get an idea on what types of papers might interest you and other junk journalers.  This was inspired by a few sea or beach themed crafting videos I had watched on Youtube and the fact that I remembered that some of my favorite seafaring vintage movies are Captain Blood and Lady Hamilton.  I actually watched this movie again for the umpteenth time this weekend!

That little exposure to movies and vid tuts about the sea spurred the creation of these designs.  I   am always excited to develop new ideas for  tags  and now papers with a vintage ephemera theme for either scrapbooking, art journaling, junk journaling and other paper crafting uses.

If you are not into junk or art journaling, you can also pop these into the pockets of A5 planners or Traveler’s Notebooks if you enjoy a vintage aesthetic, as I do.

Today’s freebie has a lot of source vintage ephemera images from  vintage Photoshop brushes (many that I have designed), vintage ledger script entries, vintage sea clip art,  papers that I have scanned and other sources of vintage ephemera digital items, some sourced from books published in the 1800s! I particularly liked the “sentimental” poem, “Happenings” I found in a book published in the late 1800s, I hope you enjoy reading it!

I also would like to mention that Creative Fabrica  (a great graphic resource site and my go to site for many graphics) has ended their July sale but they have a whole new promotion to prepare for Halloween crafting.  They are offering a host of freebies and giveaways, so if you are interested don’t forget to get in on the fun.
