Hello peeps! Today, I’m providing my latest set of vintage ephemera journaling papers printables. Working with this color theme was a challenge, purple is a lovely color (at least I think so) but can be overwhelming in large amounts: so, I provided neutrals, and green item to tune the color down. You actually have a range of purple with a periwinkle color (with more blue in the iris) to a gorgeous red violet which are included in the color palette photo below. Since these are bold colors, I thought they might work with other digital papers or scrapbook pages you might have as filler papers or as a center page.
I designed these images in Photoshop CC which is an awesome photo editing program and can handle these large image files quite easily and all the layering and color adjustments involved. I also designed the tassel repeat and french postage marks patterns as well from actual vintage images.
Note: The jpegs for these files will be rather hefty averaging at the largest 4 MB . Your printing results will vary depending on the type of printer you have and the type of printer paper that you use. As a general rule, the higher the dpi capability of your printer; the better your results.
You can always take them to the nearest Office Depot or Staples (here in the US) to get higher quality printing if you are using these for a special journaling project.
Pale Violet Iris Design Inspiration
I hope this freebie inspires you in your crafting, art journaling, junk journaling and/or scrapbooking time with today’s vintage freebie. I have been watching a lot of junk journaling videos on Youtube to get an idea on what types of papers might interest you and other junk journalers. This set was inspired by a gorgeous wallpaper image source, I recently acquired. You will see more of these designs in the future.
I am always excited to develop new ideas for tags and now papers with a vintage ephemera theme for either scrapbooking, art journaling, junk journaling and other paper crafting uses.
If you are not into junk or art journaling, you can wait for the add ons follow up post in order to pop these into the pockets of A5 planners or Traveler’s Notebooks if you enjoy a vintage aesthetic, as I do. Especially if you don’t want to be overwhelmed with the large files and large scale of the patterns.
Today’s freebie has a lot of source vintage ephemera images from vintage Photoshop brushes (many that I have designed), vintage checks, vintage wallpaper, papers that I have scanned and other sources of vintage ephemera digital items, some sourced from books published in the 1800s!
Time Sensitive Offer…
I also would like to mention that Creative Fabrica (a great graphic resource site and my go to site for many modern graphics and svgs) has ended their July sale but they have a whole new promotion to prepare for Halloween crafting. They are offering a host of freebies and giveaways, so if you are interested don’t forget to get in on the fun. Also, Adobe Photoshop is running a huge Back to School Sale subscription with up to 60% off for Teachers and Students. You can check the Adobe image on my sidebar to get more details. This offer will end Sept. 5, 2022.
About the Pale Violet Iris Journaling Papers Freebie
As for the details about the freebie, there are 4 junk journaling pages in this blog post printables offer. You can use these elements for journaling in your traveler’s notebook projects, smashbooks, junk journals or other types of memory keeping.
This free printable has four journaling pages at 8.5″ by 11″, stay tuned for the add-ons I will be posting in the near future. These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp. They can be used in either the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut digital cutters to cut them out or you can use scissors and a slide cutter.
The materials I used were vintage ephemera scanned at a very high resolution and other high quality and high resolution vintage digital resources.
**Please note, although I used public domain resources to create this design, the design is under my copyright.**
Materials Needed
*White cardstock, Southmore 25% Cotton paper or white sticker paper or fabric paper, depending on your final use.
*Vintage inks, such as Tim Holtz Distress Inkpads, to give the edges a worn, tinted or aged look, if that is your preference. This process takes off the white edge of the journaling cards and journaling spots, if you are using them for junk journaling and it gives the paper a subtle, aged and worn look. With these inks you control the amount of tinting and color that you prefer on your edges.
*Scissors or slide cutter
*Photo editing software (i.e., Photoshop Elements) for jpeg files or Silhouette or other digital cutters. You can also resize the printables easily in a basic Powerpoint program, Windows or MAC.
How to Use this Pale Violet Iris Journaling Papers Printable
- Print and cut out the papers and use them as pages for your junk journals, traveler’s notebooks and other planners.
- Resize and create tags or pockets for your journals or planners. Watermark is removed on actual downloads.
