Blog Update – Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Hello Peeps and blog followers….I’m just checking in to greet you with a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I thought this vintage poster image with the skier in green would qualify for the “wearing of the green”.

I have been a little busy with other projects as I retool my content and freebie offerings going forward.  No, it wasn’t Daylight Savings time, although that did rattle my body clock a little.

I did want to share that I have been accepted as an Adobe products affiliate which is why you might notice the small ad on the right side of my blog.

When I first started this blog or site, I use free design tools like Inkscape and the free version of Silhouette Design software.  I eventually upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator.

I am sharing that because if you have followed my blog for awhile, it was one of my goals to improve my graphic design skills and win your trust that I provide  free quality printables.   I think I have improved a bit and I hope you agree!  You  have kept me accountable to keep giving me a reason to show up and provide these printables and improve my design skills at the same time.  I am so grateful!

I’ll be back to my freebie offerings shortly, but I just wanted to wish you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and happy days as we head into spring!

Hello peeps. It’s  the weekend and one day before we turn back the clock for daylight savings time!  Hopefully,  this spring cut file freebie will help get you ready for some spring crafting.  

I have included the cut files in mock ups; so, that you can get an idea how the individual files might look on a mug craft project. I used a lovely script  font for this svg cut file which is part of a lovely fun font  set that I have purchased.  I often sing the praises of Creative Fabrica and Fontbundles because these sites made it possible for me to accumulate lovely fonts at reasonably low prices or even sometimes for free with commercial use!

Just so you’ll know,  I  have a Pinterest board for Silhouette DIY Crafts |Silhouette, Cricut & Cut Files that has a  lot of awesome pins showcasing free cut files from other experienced bloggers and crafters on the ‘net.

There are pins of really intricate designs on my board as well as basic ones and new pins for the release of  the latest pins for Silhouette Cameo Designer Studio  & also Cricut Explore, the two most popular digital cutters.

Instructions about the Cut File Freebie

This svg cut files were created for your personal use in your papercraft projects, i.e. scrapbooking, smashbooks, gift cards, and vinyl cutting projects,  etc.

Note: For your information, I will be including an svg file, png file,  and a jpeg with most of the files designed on an 8.5″ by 11″ format so that you can use the file on most printers or digital cutters,  and of course they will be bundled in zip file format.   

You will need to have the software on your computer to open the type of files  and access your files.  I have provided the individual files on separate links for this project.

The Silhouette Portrait  Basic Edition can open jpeg & png files whereas most other digital cutters  (i.e. the Cricut Explore )including the Silhouette Cameo with Designer Edition Software can open the svg file format.

Facts about this  SVG CUT FILE freebie :

  • One file design-file formats  included are  SVG, PNG , JPEG 
  • Files will vary in size depending on the original source files. ( 6″x 6″)
  • You must have the software in order to open the files (i.e. photo editing software or Silhouette Portrait or Cameo digital cutters, or  a Cricut or other types of digital cutters)
  • I would appreciate any constructive feedback on how these files  work for you, so please share a comment, so that I can tweak the digital cut files that I offer.

Free Vintage St. Patrick’s Day Journaling Cards Printable

Today, I am releasing a pocket scrapbooking or journaling cards freebie  for St. Patrick’s  Day.  I used to design these a little more often years ago and as I was editing some of my former blog posts, I thought I would create this type of printable for you.

I also included a coordinating mini size envelope printable and tab and tags printable as well!   I am providing these journaling printables for St. Patrick’s Day and to give a little shout out to the Irish  for their lace design inspiration.   My mother and grandmother were avid fans of crochet designs, knitting and embroidery.  Every time they were able to get together, they would discuss how to achieve or master a popular design.  My mother was a lot more skilled than my grandmother (sorry Nana!) and she would often sell her creations for the ladies auxiliary group of her church.  I wasn’t as appreciative of the work that went into this type of craft as I am now.

I included a little bit of that inspiration in my design. Here’s a little excerpt from the Heritage Council of Ireland regarding the origins of Irish lace.

“Lace was first produced in Ireland from the 1730s. It was a highly skilled and very delicate craft, and was promoted by Irish aristocrats such as Lady Arabella Denny, the famous philanthropist, who used social and political connections to support the new industry and promote the sale of Irish lace abroad. The skill soon spread beyond Dublin to the poorest parts of the country, and proved a popular means for young women to help support their families. Lace-making required little equipment beyond bobbins and fine cotton or linen thread, and a great deal of patience, so was suitable for remote parts of the country that had little industry and few employment options.”

So, there are multiple uses for these printables.   Choose one or all…it’s up to your crafting needs and desire.  Enjoy!

  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp with a smooth lay down of the ink color.  The preview pictures both on the blog and on Google are at 72 dpi, so you often can not see all the detail accurately or colors are sometimes distorted.
  • Color scheme:  kelly green, dark green ivory, gold
