Happy Friday!   Today, I’m providing  my latest vintage ephemera junk journaling printable.  I have noticed a lot of traffic on these blog posts and I’d like to acknowledge and appreciate the support and referral traffic.  Today, I am providing you a set of ATC cards using Johan Teyler’s ( a multi talented 17th century Dutch artist ) floral images.  The color theme is filled with rich oranges, muted reds and they include a lovely navy blue.  However, with this freebie I also provided the images in sepia tones, and a rich high contrast black and white!

In any case, I hope this freebie  inspires you in your paper crafting, art journaling, junk journaling  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s vintage freebie.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Design Inspiration

I so enjoy designing these projects.  I  am always excited to develop new ideas for  tags  and now papers with a vintage ephemera design for either scrapbooking, art journaling, junk journaling and other paper crafting uses.  I am trying to provide a few of these vintage printables more frequently.

I mentioned previously about how many crafting/junk journaling  Youtube videos I am watching for inspiration and ideas.  I thought these lovely prints from rawpixel.com would inspire you to use them for your junk journals, regular planners or other paper crafts.  The original public domain images are US letter size and can be accessed for free by signing up on rawpixel.com’s website.

These jpegs are created at the highest quality, so some of the files may be large at approximately 8MB.  If you are not into junk or art journaling, you can also resize some of these images and pop these into the pockets of A5 planners or Traveler’s Notebooks if you enjoy a vintage aesthetic, as I do.

I also would like to mention that Creative Fabrica  (a great graphic resource site and my go to site) is having an awesome  sale throughout this month as we get ready for end of the year crafting, be sure to check out their daily freebies and giveaways.  Also,as mentioned before I obtained these images from another great graphic website, Rawpixel  which is loaded with a slew of public domain images and  artwork for your personal paper crafting use.  These two graphic sites are my top favorite for a variety of images and fonts.

Facts about the Vintage Ephemera ATC Cards Freebie

As for the details about the freebie, there are 3  pdf printables provided today.    You can use these elements for journaling in your traveler’s notebook projects, smashbooks, junk journals or other types of memory keeping.  This printable is for diy paper crafts but, of course, can be used in your journals.

This freebie has three printables at 8.5″ by 11″  in pdf format.     These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp.  They can be used in either the Silhouette Cameo or Cricut digital cutters to cut them out or you can use scissors and a slide cutter.

**Please note, although I used  public domain resources to create this design, the design is under my copyright.**

Materials Needed

*White cardstock or white sticker paper, depending on your final use.

*Vintage inks, such as Tim Holtz  Distress Inkpads, to give the edges a worn, tinted or aged look.  These inks take off the white edge of the journaling cards and journaling spots if you are using them for junk journaling .  With these inks you control the amount of tinting and color you prefer on your edges.

*Scissors or slide cutter

*Photo editing software (i.e., Photoshop Elements) for jpeg files or Silhouette or other digital cutters.

How to Use this  Vintage Ephemera Junk Journaling Printable

  • Print and cut out the papers and use them to embellish your  pages or pockets  for your junk journals, traveler’s notebooks and other planners.  Watermark (if any) is removed on actual downloads.

junk journal kit on desktop

Hello peeps! Well, I really have something very different for you today!  I have been watching several Youtube vids on junk journaling and that inspired me to try my hand at this project.   I wanted to help you out a little with a vintage ephemera junk journal mini kit printables to  jump start  your crafting, art journaling,  and/or scrapbooking time with today’s freebie download.

I  have been wanting  to create  this type of freebie with the  vintage ephemera  and vintage Photoshop brushes that I own and already have in my stash.

Today’s freebie was created from a variety of vintage ephemera-some made into Photoshop brushes and other’s are just png files of these images  sourced from vintage paper items scanned at a high dpi. I made these with the color theme used by many of  Tim Holtz’ vintage Idea-ology products.  Of course, this is my first go round with this product, so on to giving you the info as to what you are getting in this freebie.  I didn’t add distressing shades or brushes, because what I have seen different diy crafters have different preferences to the amount of distressing they prefer on their journal, I will suggest that you take a look at Tim Holz distressing inks, if you are interested in what “distressing” is all about.

Facts about the Vintage Junk Journal Kit Freebie

As for the details about the freebie, there are 20+ elements varying from tabs, pocket cards, quotes and an 8 1/2 by 11 journaling page..  As always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects or other types of memory keeping.

This free printable has 1)  a junk journal page  on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ jpeg file.   2) A set of journaling tags on a 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ jpeg file.  3) Foldable pockets and tabs on an 5.5″ by 8 1/2″ jpeg file.  And 4) Ten quotes, Shakespearean quotes, (can you guess which is not written by Shakespeare? Note: Answer in the Image Credit notes below, in case you are curious) on an a  5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ jpeg file.  I didn’t bundle these files, so you will have to download them individually.  The watermark will NOT appear on your junk  journal page.

These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be clear and sharp.

The materials I used were all vintage ephemera scanned at a very high resolution.  Hopefully, you own a modern computer and internet connection that can make the download easier for you.  Enjoy!

How to Use these Junk Journal Kit Printables:

There are several ways you can use this printable to create your stickers and I have included a few in the following instructions:

1) The easiest way to use this printout  is to print it out on a full sheet of white sticker paper and if you own a Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait or other digital cutter, such as the Cricut Explore or Maker  you can cut out the  journal kit using their designer software.

( **Please note:  You must have the Silhouette Designer Edition software upgrade to open pdfs in your Silhouette. I also have redesigned the template so that the margins are within the “registration” area of your silhouette.   You will have to spend some time creating the cutlines for the silhouette  but this should make creating the cutfile a lot easier.) I have provided jpegs to resolve this problem.

2) Also another method,  would be to use heavy bond printer paper or you can use 65 lb. white cardstock or heavy white printer paper  depending on how thick you want your sticker  and then place adhesive via a snail tape runner or with a Xyron sticker tool or machine.

3) Another way, (albeit a little time consuming way) is to print out the planner stickers on sticker paper and “fussy cut” out by hand, I have spaced the elements so that you can use a pair of good craft scissors to get a clean cut and handle the fussy cutting.  Another handy tool to have for the straight cuts is a slide or rotary paper trimmer which will reduce cutting around the straight sides of stickers.

vintage journaling tags

Hello peeps!  When I shared that I have been experimenting with some of my “new” vintage brushes, overlay blends,  and vintage images , I was serious.  So, to make up for not publishing earlier in the week I am providing this set of journaling tags for your crafting and journaling pleasure.

The journaling tags are in six different colors and in three different sepia tones.  There are two variations of the same image  for you to use ” as is” or so that you can embellish for your art journals or art/bullet journals.  I think they might serve as a good background or base for your designs and add a pop of color.

I added a linen texture which you can see clearly when you view the cards up close.  These vintage  journaling tags also have several  sewing themed vintage elements that add additional interest.  My sisters are the expert seamstresses in my family and my Mom still knows how to use her “serger” when she helps my sister make drapes or  furniture coverings.   I sew well enough for crafting and getting myself into trouble.

This is another example of  my  dabbling  into “digital” mixed media and junk journaling.

Facts about the Journaling Tags

As for the details about the freebie, there are 9 different journaling tags measuring 2.5″ by 3.5″ , about the size of your standard baseball card.

As always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects, smashbooks, art journaling, junk journaling or other types of memory keeping.

This free printable has 9 elements on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ jpeg file.  This freebie’s file size is  rather large at approximately 8.4 MB.  The elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp.  The paper texture at 100% detail  and the images are taken from vintage ephemera digital files scanned at a high dpi and Photoshop brushes that I have created.  Hope you like them! 🙂
