Mini Happy Planner – Retro Sunshine Planner Stickers

Hello peeps and happy start of a new week !  I so love spring flowers, bright colors and bunnies, all the elements I used in this  Mini Happy Planner  printable.  I  am going to stick to a  vertical layout for this planner printable to make it easier for those of you who use digital cutters and do not have the designer software, or just to simply  save you a step of flipping the printable.

If you are a Filofax fan or owner of a planner with A5 weekly inserts, you will be  able to use this printable as well.   Please note:  These planner stickers are specifically designed for fans of the Me and My Big Ideas Mini Happy Planner but many of the stickers will fit the   Kikki.K or Filofax personal planner or similar smaller personal sized  weekly planners. The dimensions for these stickers are very small; usually, only slightly more than an inch across.

Here’s a sample of this set of planner stickers printed, on letter size, full sheet white  heavy paper printed with my Epson  Artisan 810 printer.  However, I do use full sheet white sticker label paper by DigiOrange when I  want to cut these stickers in my Silhouette Cameo.

Retro Sunshine Planner Stickers | Free Printable

Also, if you are new to this site, I wanted to let you know  that I have a board on Pinterest  that  you might want to follow that has several pins (ideas) by other planner designers, stationery, home office decor,  office supplies and planner freebies that are mostly planner related, you can view that and/or follow here,  Home Office | Planners & Stationery Favs.

How to Use this “Mini Happy Planner Stickers” Printable:

1) The easiest way to use this printout is to print it out on a full sheet of white sticker paper and if you own a Silhouette Cameo or Silhouette Portrait or other digital cutter you can cut out the to-do lists or planner stickers using their designer software. ( **Please note: You must have the Silhouette Designer Edition software upgrade to open pdfs in your Silhouette. I also have redesigned the template so that the margins are within the “registration” area of your silhouette. You will have to spend some time creating the cutlines for the silhouette but this should make creating the cutfile a lot easier.)

2) Also another method, would be to use heavy bond printer paper or you can use 65 lb. white cardstock depending on how thick you want your sticker and then place adhesive via a snail tape runner or with a Xyron sticker tool or machine.

3) The most tedious way is to print out the planner stickers on sticker paper and “fussy cut” out by hand, I have spaced the elements so that you can use a pair of good craft scissors to get a clean cut and handle the fussy cutting. You should probably use punches for the circle stickers. I try to make the circle stickers at standard punch sizes.

Facts about the freebie:

  • A set of  95+ planner stickers on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ pdf file.
  • File size :   1.73MB
  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp with a smooth lay down of the ink color.  The preview pictures both on the blog and on Google are at 72 dpi, so you often can not see all the detail accurately or colors are sometimes distorted.
  • Color scheme:  light teal,  light pink, yellow
  • As usual these freebies are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)  If you have been here before, you know the drill.  If not, you might want to read the quick  TOU below before you access the printable.

retro, kitchen labels, red, aqua

I’m sure the weekend is going to be a busy one, but nevertheless I came up with this design for today.  I really should stay away from Pinterest,  just when I think I am plum out of  ideas for the week …there you go, I get a new idea!   I must be thinking about food gifts, or the board I have specifically for food packaging  called DIY Crafts | Food Gifts and Packaging on Pinterest.  I changed the color scheme for this design to a vibrant turquoise and red!

As for the details about today’s freebie,  you get 8 retro kitchen labels at (3″ x2″)  .  I designed the freebie with a retro feel.  Also, there is  plenty of room for you to get in and around the labels to cut them out .  I think some rounded edges on these might look great.

Facts about the freebie:

  •  8 kitchen labels on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ pdf file.
  • File size is 3.64 MB.
  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp with a smooth lay down of the ink color.  The preview pictures both on the blog and on Google are at 72 dpi, so you often can not see all the detail accurately or colors are often distorted.
  • Color scheme:  turquoise, red

My expression of gratitude for all your Pinterest and other social media pins…

I’d like to say thanks to all those taking the time to comment, I sure appreciate the gracious “thank yous” and the legitimate “link love”. I just would love it if you check out my Instagram and follow or like the pics.

Thank you for your pins on Pinterest as well as Facebook links.  I also appreciate mentions in your blogs with appropriate link backs and active links.  Many of you have been kind enough to feature some of my designs on your blogs and that has contributed to the increased traffic.

I hope you don’t mind when I check out your Pinterest boards, and repin some of your pins to some of my Pinterest boards, these pins usually provide inspiration for new designs of my own!  You guys and gals often find things I don’t often run into and it just serves to expand and generate new ideas.

Here’s a sample of the labels.  They were printed out on plain, white card stock with  an Epson Artisan 810 printer.  I rounded the corners as well.

Free Printable Download – Retro Christmas Embellishments

Retro-Xmas-embellishments-header

Deck the halls with boughs of holly…Fa la la la…. I am posting this freebie on Monday since for the rest of the week,  I will be busy with family and all of Thanksgiving’s holiday festivities, as I hope you will be as well.   For today’s freebie,  I designed these retro gift tags that coordinate with the Retro Christmas tags that I released a few days ago. They have a vintage (mid-century) theme and my favorite retro color scheme for Christmas:  red, white and turquoise. I was just thinking fun, whimsical and vintage (at least harking back into the ’50s).

I created a lot of elements in this freebie, that are probably suitable as add-ons or gift card embellishments.  I’m sure you can find several other uses besides what I intended them for.  I have seen similar items in art journals, smashbooks and December daily journals. I hope you like them and find them useful for your crafting.

You will be seeing a few more Christmas freebies along this color scheme, but I will be mixing it up since I love  to use different color schemes with holiday decorating.  Well, what I mean is that  I vary or rotate color schemes every year from neutrals (black, white, silver), shabby chic (pink & turquoise), silver, white & blue and green & gold to name a few. And I am anxious to try different ideas, that I have written on my inspiration list.

Facts about the freebie:

  • This free printable was designed on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ pdf file. There are 21 elements.
  • The file size is  at 16.50 MB.
  • These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp.  I used several scanned images of vintage ephemera.
  • Printing tip:  Print on heavy white cardstock, matte or plain.
  • Color scheme: red, turquoise, white

My expression of gratitude for all your Pinterest and other social media pins…

I am so grateful for your interest and pinning activity.  I’d like to say thanks to all those taking the time to comment, I sure appreciate the gracious “thank yous” and the legitimate “link love” .   I know you don’t always have time to leave a comment because you are busy, so I really appreciate it when blog visitors take the time to either like or comment.

Thank you for your single pins and for some of you,  multiple pins of my various designs on Pinterest as well as Facebook links.  I also appreciate mentions in your blogs with appropriate link backs and active links.

I hope you don’t mind when I check out your Pinterest boards, and repin some of your pins to some of my Pinterest boards, these pins usually provide inspiration for new designs of my own!

As usual these freebies are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)  If you have been here before, you know the drill and all this extra content might be a little tiresome (sorry, but we want newcomers to get a hang of what needs to be done to access their freebie!).  If not, you might want to read the quick  TOU below before you access the printable.

Xmas-kraft-tags-headerRudolph the red nosed reindeer….Deck the halls….. Do I have you humming these Christmas tunes already?  So, here is my next variation on Christmas Kraft  tags, with of course, this one leaning toward a simple design of a deer and wreath in a contrasting neutral color scheme.   I don’t usually design kraft freebies because I prefer printing on the actual paper, but this texture was a very good photo-realistic look of a kraft texture that I couldn’t resist attempting to design some kraft tags.  I used both black ink and white ink on kraft.

One of the deer images was yet another graphic image courtesy of The  Graphics Fairy (link below) taken from a vintage check.  The tags are  just a tad under 4″ x 2.5″ and the circle labels are just slightly larger than 1 1/2″ to give you a little wiggle room for your punch.

Hello, blog visitors and followers,… so  I am in a retro fashionista mode this week and as I had mentioned in my last post, I have been acquiring a variety of images and other designer stuff in order to experiment with vintage or retro looking paper.  And…this is my first foray into a retro digital paper or background I would like to make available as a freebie for personal use.  It reminds me of the popular TV show Mad Men.

Free Printable Download – Retro Fashionista Tags

Retro-fashionista-1940s-header

Hello…here’s my official “retro fashionista” freebie download.  I had listed this as one of my favorite genre’s but had not gone around to creating an actual retro fashion freebie printable.  Unfortunately, that’s because finding commercial use vintage/retro fashion images  is typically a little tough.

I  have been wanting  to create  some garment tags with a vintage ephemera look for either scrapbooking, journaling, smashbooks and other paper crafting uses. So, today’s freebie has a lot of vintage ephemera from vintage sewing patterns and bingo cards. The theme is mostly around 1940s fashion.

As for the details about the freebie, there are 15 elements varying from vintage Dennison- like labels,  ephemera circles and vintage ephemera garment tags which measure approximately 2.5″ by 4″.  As always, they can either be used for journaling in your project life projects, smashbooks or other types of memory keeping.

This free printable has 15 elements on an 8 1/2″ by 11″ pdf file.  Unfortunately, although I tried to keep the file size smaller, this freebie’s file size is fairly large at approximately 14.11 MB.  These elements were created at 300 dpi, so your printing results should be very clear and sharp.  The materials I used were all vintage ephemera scanned at a very high resolution, so I believe this contributed to the larger file size.  Hopefully, you own a modern computer and internet connection that can make the download easier for you.  Enjoy!

I’d like to say thanks to all those taking the time to comment, I sure appreciate the gracious “thank yous” and the legitimate “link love”.  Thank you for your pins on Pinterest as well as a few Facebook links.  I also appreciate mentions in your blogs with appropriate link backs and active links. My traffic keeps increasing from visitors from all over the world, thank goodness for Google translate!  I hope you don’t mind when I check out your Pinterest boards, and repin some of your pins to my Pinterest boards, these pins usually provide inspiration for new designs of my own!

As usual these freebies are free for personal use, (check my TOU if you haven’t previously.)  If you have been here before, you know the drill.  If not, you might want to read the quick  TOU below before you access the printable.

Here’s a sample of the printout.  I used standard, plain white cardstock; this one has an ivory cast to it.  I printed the pdf on an Epson Artisan 810 printer.

Most of my elements are made from commercial use or public domain sources, however if any designer feels their copyright has been infringed upon the freebie will promptly be removed and the freebie will no longer be available.  Designers vary in their restrictions for their terms of use (even for CU items), so although I try to be scrupulous, I may miss some.

Distinguishing Between Terms for Different Collecting Eras

Vintage Typewriter

Q.  I’m confused what is the difference between the word “retro”, “vintage” and “antique” ?  Vintage resellers on Ebay and other online shops seem to intermix these terms  all the time.

A.  You’re right, I have experienced this myself when searching at online shops or in antique malls; however, based on my research the terms for collecting eras or time periods  are loosely defined as follows and these definitions usually refer to clothing styles:

Retro – Anything 30 years and younger

(Example:  Since its 2011, that would put us around 1981 when guys were wearing Ocean Pacific corduroy shorts and Ocean Pacific shirts , or designer jeans and Members Only jackets or Rock Concert T-shirts and jeans.  Girls wore peasant blouses, Jordache designer jeans, platform or wedge high heeled sandals and yes, Farrah Fawcett hairstyles!  The television show “That 70s Show” is a great example of this era.  These are only a few examples, if you went to high school around that time you can remember more than the above mentioned styles as your classmates, depending on what clique they belonged to, wore different popular styles.  Ask your mother, or other fashion conscious female relative about fashions worn back then, if you are not old enough to remember this era yourself.)

Vintage – Over 30 years but not sufficiently old enough to qualify as an “antique”

Here we are most likely referring to clothes worn in the 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s and 20s.  As you can see this is a wide range of fashion styles, you can go from a 60s leather miniskirt, a 50s cashmere twin sweater set with a poodle skirt,  a 40s day suit, and a 20s flapper dress and they would all fall under the term “vintage”.   Please be aware that all of these examples are the tip of the iceberg as representative of each decade’s clothing.  Then as now, there is a huge variety of styles within each decade or fashion era. I think the TV shows Pan AM and Mad Men are representative of the 50s  and 60s era.  You would have to watch William Powell’s The Thin Man Series of Movies to get a feel for clothing and styles popular during the 20s and 30s.

Antique – 100 years old and beyond

(These are clothes that were worn over 100 years ago, usually you are talking about the Edwardian period, around the turn of the 20th century, where women wore floor length skirts, long-sleeved Victorian style blouses and their hair in a bouffant.  The term “Antique” also includes anything pre-1900, clothing worn during the Civil War (1860-1863) for example, this clothing is usually of museum quality as few pieces have survived this era and are collected more for the clothing’s value rather than to be worn as everyday wear.)

While I know there will be those that will argue that the above terms are not exactly correct, this was meant to give you a general idea to help you when shopping for vintage items online and in resale boutiques, or  antique malls.  It’s a good idea to invest in a reference book that gives you a general idea of the various eras  of the past, preferably by each decade, so that you can determine the item you are looking at by the style and which era it fits into. But, please realize this general rule applies only if the item is an original and not a reproduction.   Another research method, and one I enjoy using, is to watch the Turner Classics and American Movie Classics movie channels, where time spent watching a few of these movies will give you a glimpse into fashions and accessories worn in the past and entertain you as well!  If you love vintage and retro shopping, these activities will be a great source of fun as well as design & style  knowledge!   .

P.S. One thing that I must mention is that the above terms refer to fashion eras  in the United States and possibly the UK, our European friends would laugh at our definition of “antique” as they have collectibles  and clothing that go back hundreds (if not thousands) of years!

*Did you know that Levi’s jeans are the only item of clothing that is still worn by the general population for over 100 years?
